When racists come out to play, the internet has a field day! #JustineHasLanded
If you’ve logged on to twitter within the last few hours, you should by now heard of Justine Sacco’s ridiculous tweet about her current trip to South Africa (Cape Town, I believe) that she believed, like so many others before her, to be humourous in nature although it clearly showed her level of ignorance, bigotry and down-right stupidity.
In case you’re wondering who the hell Justine Sacco is, she’s not just odd Mary Jane, she’s actually the senior director of corporate communications at InterActiveCorp, the company which owns Vimeo, The Daily Beast, OkCupid, Match.com etc. So yeah, the outrage is more than justified here (although it would be regardless of her position). You’d really expect a whole lot better from someone that works in PR. What you say on the internet is written in forever ink, as long as someone is fast enough to screen grab (and someone always is).
As for what happened to Justine, well, word on twitter says that she’s been fired and her entire twitter account has been deleted. Guess she wasn’t quite ready for the backlash to what she thought was a witty tweet. Good riddance.
A representative from IAC released the following:
“This is an outrageous, offensive comment that does not reflect the views and values of IAC.  Unfortunately, the employee in question is unreachable on an international flight, but this is a very serious matter and we are taking appropriate action.”

Omg. Some people are really asshole
